Beautiful bride, beautiful venue and beautiful weather!

February 21, 2013 in Special occasion, Table decor, Weddings, What a great idea!

Congratulations Lori and Brad!

Last Saturday the Bay Of Islands really pulled it out of the bag to give Lori and Brad their dream wedding, and I was so privileged to be a part of it.

From the beginning Lori had her theme and colours sorted. Yellow and soft grey, which as you can see looked lovely together. The venue was the ever quaint Waimate North Hall in Waimate and 100 guests to enjoy the festivities.

We were even able to use masses of butter yellow satin to divide the space and use the front for cocktails and the rear for seating. It gave the whole evening two separate stages and gave the WOW factor to the big reveal! Great idea!

We nutted out the rest of the decor details and together with Putts Green Florist, who did the table centerpieces the hall was transformed to a wedding wonderland.

Here are some lovely pics to start but Jess at Exposure photographics will have some more to add soon.

Valentine decor

February 13, 2013 in Special occasion, Table decor, What a great idea!

Now Valentines, or indeed any occasion that you’re getting together around a table, can be so easy to theme with items you have in your cupboard.

No spending required if you use your imagination.

How about little shot glasses your mother gave you that sit in your cupboard and only come out on tequila nights?!Turn them upside down and you have the cutest little candelabra!

Or how about all the crystal you got for a wedding present that just sits there gathering dust? Sometimes less is more but with crystal you can just blitz the table! Even the carafe you never use is a great candle holder.

There are always something growing in your garden, be it leaves, berries, flowers or even some weeds that would love lovely when grouped. And lighting is everything so candles, candles, candles!

Give it a go….your guests or that special someone will be pleasantly surprised.

Decoration and theming

February 13, 2013 in Corporate Events, Functions, Table decor, Weddings

I cannot get over the amount of gorgeous theming and decorative jshoosh is out there!

Your only limited to your own imagination….and on occasion, your budget.

If  you’re at the point where you know what you want, you’ve seen countless ideas that really appeal to you but you don’t know how to bring it all together…I’m that bring-it-all-together person!

It can be totally overwhelming and most people just don’t know where to start.

The one piece of advice that will always work, it’s always the key to good design – LESS IS MORE!!!

Pick one idea, one concept that trumps all others, then the smaller details will fall into place.

And if all else fails….CALL ME! The possibilities are endless.

From drab to fab!

How to transform a large, open hotel conference room into as space that has the WOW factor!?

That was my challenge in Vancouver for the Winter Olympics.

My clients brief was to create a space that their guests would feel warm and comfortable, using the corporate colors and logos as much as possible, and all within a very tight budget. All the while adhering to the strict safety guidelines and access allowances of the hotel…it was a bit of a juggle!

The room had to be used for various events, meetings, cocktails and dining throughout the day, a very busy space. But with areas of quiet comfort so guests could remove themselves to relax.

Just see for yourself what can be achieved with some soft furnishings, draping and decorative touches. And of course don’t ever forget the golden rule…..Great lighting is everything!!
